Bergen The City of Bergen is one of the country’s jewels; the old Hanseatic town and the harbour area with its wooden houses (listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site) will take you on a journey through Norwegian history. Bergen is known as the “capital” of the fjord beautiful and dramatic fjord country of western Norway. A city with charm, atmosphere in a spectacular setting.
The Fjords During the last glacial age 10-12000 years ago, the ice slid down the mountains, along with soil and rocks, and slowly curved out valleys. The result is the Norwegian fjords, among the most spectacular natural formations in the world. The deep and narrow fjords are surrounded by mountains, laced with magnificent waterfalls. The Norwegian Fjords were in March 2004 designated the world's top unspoiled travel destination by The National Geographic Traveller Magazine. In 2005 several of the fjords were placed on UNESCO’s National Heritage List. Activities
